Privacy policy.
The short version: your training and food data is yours. It is not sold, it is not shared with advertisers, and the only outside company that ever sees any of it is the one that powers the AI coach. You can delete all of it at any time.
What is stored
Novyn keeps an account for you so your data survives changing phones. Held against that account:
- Account — your email address, used to sign in and to email you if something goes wrong.
- Profile — name, optional username, age, sex, height, weight, goal, training focus, available equipment, unit preferences.
- Body — body-weight entries and any measurements you log.
- Training — workouts, every set, plans, personal records, achievements.
- Cardio — duration, distance, pace, splits, and the GPS route of sessions you record outdoors.
- Nutrition — meals, foods, macros, and the foods you save for yourself.
- Photos — progress photos, meal photos, and a profile picture if you set one.
- Social — friends, comments, reactions, and any personal record you choose to share.
- AI coach — your conversation history, and notes the coach keeps so it does not ask the same question twice.
- Usage — a row when you open the app, finish onboarding, log a workout, cardio session or meal, message the coach, create a plan, or view the paywall. Eight event types, nothing more. There is no third-party analytics or advertising SDK in Novyn.
Who else sees it
- Anthropic — powers the AI coach, meal-photo logging and plan generation. When you photograph a meal, that photo is sent to Anthropic to be read. When you message the coach, your message goes with a snapshot of your recent training, nutrition and weight, so it can answer using your real numbers. Anthropic processes this to return a response; it is not used to train models.
- Supabase — the database, file storage and sign-in behind the app. Your data lives on their servers.
- Open Food Facts — when you scan a barcode, the barcode number alone is sent to look up the product. Nothing about you goes with it.
- Vercel — hosts this website. If you join the early-access list, your email is stored by us, not by them.
That is the complete list. Novyn does not sell data, does not share it with advertisers, and has no advertising or tracking SDKs in it.
Photos, and who can see them
Progress photos are private. They are stored so that only your account can open them. Nobody else can, including via a link.
Profile pictures are public. If you set an avatar, anyone who has its address can view it. That is how it appears next to you for friends. Do not use a picture you would not want seen — and you can remove it at any time.
Permissions the app asks for
- Location — only while a cardio session is running, to measure distance, pace and splits. Novyn does not track your location in the background.
- Camera — to scan barcodes and photograph meals.
- Photo library — only to let you pick a meal or progress photo you already have.
- Notifications — reminders and rest timers, if you allow them.
Each one is optional. Refusing any of them turns off that feature and nothing else.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account from Profile in the app. That removes your account and everything attached to it — training, nutrition, body data, photos, coach history — from the live database. Backups roll off within 30 days.
If you would rather it was done for you, email novyn.app@gmail.com.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be erased. In the UK and EU (UK GDPR / GDPR) and in Türkiye (KVKK) these are legal rights. Email novyn.app@gmail.com and it will be handled.
Age
Novyn is not built for children. It is intended for people aged 13 and over, and if you are under 18 you should have a parent or guardian read this with you. Novyn tracks body weight and calories; it is a training tool, not medical advice, and it is not a treatment for any eating disorder.
Security
Data moves over encrypted connections and is stored with per-user access rules, so one account cannot read another's rows. No system is perfect, and Novyn is built by one person — if you find a problem, email novyn.app@gmail.com and it will be fixed.
Changes
If what Novyn collects changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. Anything significant will also be said in the app.
